STORM LAKE, IA (04/17/2019) (readMedia)-- On Monday, July 29, Buena Vista University (BVU) will host the DCI Shoreline Classic, a Drum Corps International Tour event in which Open Class drum corps perform and compete as they vie for top honors just a week later at the 2019 Drum Corps International World Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
All are invited to attend the show, which starts at 7 p.m. at J. Leslie Rollins Football Stadium. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Event details and the final listing of performing corps will be posted at BVU.edu/Shoreline.
Tiff Wurth, BVU's director of athletic bands says, "Hosting the DCI Shoreline Classic this summer is something we are really looking forward to at BVU, and it will be a great kickoff to introduce the new BVU marching band, the BVU Marching Blue, in August. I hope attendees enjoy a beautiful night of world-class entertainment, good music and choreography, and fun with the community."
General admission tickets went on sale March 18 and are available for purchase on BVU's website and at DCI.org under the DCI Shoreline Classic event. Ticket prices are $30 for adults and $20 for students 18 years-old and younger. Seating is limited.
Drum Corps International is an Indianapolis, Indiana-based non-profit organization that hosts an annual nationwide drum corps competitive tour along with other programs around the world. According to its website, DCI's mission is "to bring the life-enriching benefits and enjoyment of marching music performing arts to more people worldwide."
Wurth says she is eager to see professional drum corps come to Storm Lake, which she hopes will spark additional interest in the BVU Blue Steel pep band and the upcoming BVU Marching Blue, which will make its debut in the fall.
Sponsors for the DCI Shoreline Classic currently include Kings Pointe Waterpark Resort and MidBell Music. More sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Wurth at WurthT@bvu.edu or 712.749.2427.
