Education Association Honors Principals of the Year
ALBANY, NY (05/09/2008)(readMedia)-- What: 2008 awards ceremony of the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) honoring the state’s 2008 school principals of the year, as well as other outstanding educators. Four of the eight winners will receive national recognition.

Thomas Komp, Boulevard School, Gloversville Enlarged City SD • New York State Elementary Principal of the Year • National Elementary School Principal of the Year from New York as recognized by the National Association of Elementary School Principals
Reginald Stroughn, Principal, Hempstead High School, Hempstead Union Free SD, New York State High School Principal of the Year • Candidate for the award of National High School Principal of the Year as recognized by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)
Jeffrey Craig, Principal, Jamesville-DeWitt Middle School, Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District • SAANYS/NAESP Middle School Principal of the Year Award • National Middle School Principal of the Year from New York as recognized by the National Association of Elementary School Principals
Tracy DelGrego, Academy Director, East High School, Rochester City SD • New York State Assistant Principal of the Year • Candidate for the award of National Assistant Principal of the Year as recognized by NASSP
Santo Barbarino, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Lynbrook UFSD Honored as SAANYS’ Outstanding Educator of the Year
Joanne Zito, Principal, Ivan Green Primary School, East Irondequoit Central SD Honored as SAANYS’ recipient of the T. Walsh McQuillan Award for outstanding contributions to elementary education
Mary Holzerland, Assistant Principal, Transit Middle School, Williamsville CSD Honored as SAANYS’ recipient of the James E. Allen Award for outstanding contributions to secondary education
Robert Garrow, Retired, from Plattsburgh City School District Honored with SAANYS’ Irving Schwartz Retiree Award
Lynette Bryan, Manager, Student Enrichment Services, Broome-Tioga BOCES Honored with the SAANYS Leadership and Support Award for leadership in providing support services to fellow administrators across and between districts.
