Edward Ravert of Havertown Wins National Award and Coveted Internship

University of Scranton student Edward H. Ravert III of Havertown was chosen from a national pool of candidates to receive PRSSA's Daniel J. Edelman Award for the Outstanding Public Relations Student.

SCRANTON, PA (03/24/2014)(readMedia)-- Edward H. Ravert III of Havertown and a student at The University of Scranton was chosen from a national pool of candidates to receive the Public Relations Student Society of America's (PRSSA) Daniel J. Edelman Award for the Outstanding Public Relations Student. The highly competitive award is presented annually to one student from across the nation chosen based on his or her demonstrated leadership skills, digital media presence, and public relations-related achievements and activities, among other factors.

This is the first time a University of Scranton student has won the prestigious award.

The award includes a financial scholarship and a three-month paid internship in one of Edelman's U.S. offices. Edelman is the largest public relations firm in the world, with 67 offices and more than 4,800 employees worldwide. The award is named after the firm's founder, Daniel J. Edelman.

Ravert will complete his summer internship at Edelman's office in Chicago, Ill.

Ravert is a senior communication major pursuing tracks in public relations and broadcast journalism at the Jesuit university. He also has a minor in business. He expects to graduate in June 2014.

A featured columnist with the Bleacher Report, Ravert has had internships in public relations and investor relations at Gregory FCA Communications, Ardmore; in marketing and public relations with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders; and in social media with 93.3 WMMR's Preston and Steve Morning Show, Philadelphia. He has also had internships in promotion and studio support at Philadelphia's 92.5 WXTU and Wired 96.5 WRDW.

A four-year member of the University's baseball team, Ravert hosts The Brunch Break on WUSR, the University's student-run radio station. He is a member of PRSSA.

A 2010 graduate of Malvern Preparatory School, Malvern, he is the son Jean and Edward Ravert of Havertown.
