ANNVILLE, PA (05/14/2015)(readMedia)-- Edwin Wright, executive director of admissions at Widener University, was named vice president of enrollment management at Lebanon Valley College after an extensive national search. Wright brings 25 years of experience to The Valley, including 10 years at Widener. He will assume his LVC duties on July 1, 2015.

"Ed rose to the top of a national-and very talented-candidate pool during our search," said Dr. Lewis E. Thayne, Lebanon Valley College president. "His colleagues at Widener characterize him as a strong team-builder, who is strategic, hands-on, competitive, and highly attuned to the mission of the institution. We look forward to Ed's arrival and the strengths he will bring to our admission office."

"I've been visiting LVC for work and professional organization meetings for many years," said Wright. "After each visit, I became increasingly impressed by the College's friendly, student-centered atmosphere. I'm extremely excited, personally and professionally, to join the LVC community."

At Widener, Wright was instrumental in an 86 percent increase in applications and the enrollment of the largest class in school history (2013). His guidance boosted the university's academic profile and retention rates. Wright understands the importance of social media in today's culture, launching Widener's first Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

Prior to his arrival at Widener, Wright spent 10 years at West Chester University, where he was promoted from assistant director of admissions to associate director of admissions. In that span, West Chester increased their freshman application each year for 10 consecutive years. Among other duties, he organized the University Tour Guide program and oversaw office operations.

Wright will become president-elect of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC). He received the William R. McClintock, Jr. Service Award from the same organization in 2014.

In addition to his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, Wright earned a master's of education degree from Temple University. Wright and his wife, Carla, have three children.
