ANNVILLE, PA (10/10/2012)(readMedia)-- Edy P. Pierre will discuss his first book "In Search of Meaning and Purpose through Living, Structure and Functions: Born without a Trace" at Lebanon Valley College's Zimmerman Recital Hall of the Suzanne H. Arnold Gallery on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. as part of the Colloquium Series on HAPPINESS. Admission to the presentation is free and open to the public.
In his book, Pierre argues that the world is conditioning humans in a way to present them with conflict, pain, suffering, and sorrows while they are trying to find meaning in the world. He believes that humans will eventually be divided as a result of the troubled world that has been created with their natural minds.
Pierre is a native of Haiti, but he has lived in Lebanon since 1989. He is a certified mental health professional and works with FIRETREE Inc. as a chemical addiction therapist in Harrisburg. He has two master's degrees in criminal justice and public administration as well as a bachelor's degree in applied behavioral science from Penn State University.
HAPPINESS is a year-long integrated series of guest speakers, roundtable discussions, films and courses that will consider the meaning and importance of happiness as a psychological, physiological, social and cultural phenomenon. It involves presentations by speakers from a number of disciplines who approach the theme from the standpoints of the arts, the wellness of body and mind, the demands of a consumer economy, the expectations and duties of political life, and the broad philosophical questions of human flourishing.
