El Mirage native Bryce Jones named Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week

Jones blocked an extra point attempt early in the fourth quarter to help win the game for the Foresters.

LAKE FOREST, IL (10/08/2013)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College football player Bryce Jones (El Mirage, Ariz./Dysart) was named Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week on Monday for his contributions to the Foresters' 14-13 victory over visiting Carroll University on Saturday.

Jones, a senior linebacker, broke through the line and blocked a Pioneer extra point attempt early in the fourth quarter. Carroll had taken a 13-7 lead with 11:18 to play in the contest but a Lake Forest touchdown and extra point with 4:31 on the clock made Homecoming a success for the Foresters.

It was Lake Forest's second 14-13 victory of the season and there was a blocked extra point in both wins. The team is now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in MWC play.

Jones also had six tackles in the game and contributed to one of the home team's 10 tackles for loss.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Jones also earned the conference's weekly award for his play on defense once last season.
