HAMILTON, NY (11/07/2013)(readMedia)-- HAMILTON – Kesley Jensen and Eliana Brown were both honored by the Patriot League as they were selected to the 2013 All-Academic Team on Wednesday (Nov. 6).

Four of the 11 selections to the Academic All-Patriot League team were also honored with All-League selections for their play on the field. American's Shelly Montgomery and Grace Wilson joined Brown as first-team honorees along with Rachel Misko of Bucknell, who was on the second team.

Jensen is a two-time honoree as she was named to the team last season. Jensen is a chemistry and environmental studies major at Colgate and has achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.65. She is a very involved student-athlete for the Raiders. She is an Alumni Memorial Scholar (top 200 accepted students) and has earned the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence. She conducted independent research the last two summers in the chemistry lab. She is part of the Gimma Sigma Epsilon National Chemistry Honor Society and a board member for the Colgate Society of Chemists.

In addition to her work in the classroom, Jensen was a leader on the field for the Raiders as one of the team's captains. She played in all 17 games for the third time in her career. She was a big threat for Colgate on penalty corners and scored two goals and added three assists for seven points this year.

Brown earned academic honors for the first time in her career. She has been named to the Patriot League Honor Roll twice and is a Raider Honor Roll recipient as well. Brown has become a force in the Patriot League for the Raiders as she is a two-time first team All-Patriot League selection. This season she scored 10 goals and added three helpers for a career-high 23 points.

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each individual sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for this honor.
