Elmira College Welcomes New Director of Professional and Continuing Education

ELMIRA, NY (08/16/2018) Elmira College is pleased to welcome Alan Yeck as the director of professional and continuing education with the Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies.

Yeck has an extensive career in business and workforce development and continuing education, having worked in higher education in Ohio, Michigan, United Arab Emirates, and New York. In his role at Elmira College, Yeck will be responsible for programs serving part-time undergraduate students, including non-credit and certificate programs.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful institution," said Yeck. "Elmira College has a long, honored history of academic excellence and the success of our graduates reflects that. Now, more than ever, a solid education is needed for a very demanding job market and that's what you'll get at Elmira College.

Dr. Deborah Owens, current director of teacher education and associate professor of literacy education, will serve as director of graduate studies for Elmira College. Dr. Owens is the author of numerous articles and presentations on literacy education and education policy and is the author of the book The Origins of the Common Core: How the Free Market Became Public Education Policy.
