Emergency Response Exercise at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base Wednesday Morning

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE (09/09/2014)(readMedia)-- The New York Air National Guard's 174th Attack Wing will conduct a Mass Accident Response Exercise Wednesday morning, Sept. 10, 2014, in conjunction with local police, fire and emergency services.

The exercise scenario revolves around a helicopter crash at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base.

Members of the media are welcome to observe the exercise.

WHO: Airmen of the 174th Attack Wing, and members of the East Syracuse and Hancock International Airport fire departments; the New York State Police, Onondaga County Sheriff's Department, Town of Dewitt Police, East Area Volunteer Emergency Services, and Upstate Medical Center.

WHAT: An exercise which allows the 174th Attack Wing Emergency Operations Center, Command structure and Security Forces to practice coordination with local civilian first responders and agencies in the event of an incident or accident at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base. Lt. Col. John O'Connor, the Mission Support Group Commander for the 174th Attack Wing , will explain the exercise to reporters and be on hand to take questions.

WHEN: The exercise runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. Members of the press who wish to cover the event must be at the Thompson Road entrance to Hancock Field Air National Guard Base no later than 8:45.a.m.

WHERE: Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, Thompson Road, East Syracuse, New York.
