Emerson College Student Writes Emerson Stage Production Mary, Sweet Mary
Emerson College student Munroe Shearer wrote the Emerson Stage production of Mary, Sweet Mary. The world premiere was held March 2-5, 2023 at the Greene Theater at Emerson College, Boston, MA.
Each year, the Rod Parker Playwriting Fellowship is awarded to a student playwright, and their play is taken from page to stage.
Mary, Sweet Mary tells the story of Queen Elizabeth I and her anxieties surrounding her legacy, duties, and how it manifests towards the people around her.
Emerson Stage and the Department of Performing Arts are where the next generation of actors, designers, stage managers, technicians, administrators, and educators work alongside distinguished faculty, professional staff, and visiting artists to bring skills learned in the classroom to vibrant life on stage.
