Emily Pecoraro Performed as Principal Saxophonist with Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble

ITHACA, NY (03/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Guildford resident Emily Pecoraro was the saxophone player with the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble in a March 5 concert led by jazz studies director Mike Titlebaum. A senior music education major at Ithaca College's School of Music, Pecoraro is a 2008 graduate of Guilford High School.

The concert in March was performed from memory and taught to Pecoraro and her peers aurally. Pecoraro explained, "This was a totally different experience from any other jazz ensemble concert and I have found it to be one of the most rewarding."

Pecoraro credits her jazz band and orchestra director and her wind ensemble director as her two musical inspirations. Pecoraro states, "They were both the greatest inspirations in my early musical development, and continue to be resources for me as I hone my own skills as a prospective music educator." She also credits her parents, Donna and Joseph, for their continued support and financial assistance during her musical pursuits.

Pecoraro plans on graduating Ithaca College this May and pursuing a freelance career playing multiple instruments as a woodwind doubler.
