CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (10/07/2016)(readMedia)-- Campbellsville University alumni artist Eric Hurtgen is scheduled to showcase his art at the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery on Saturday, Oct. 15. Hurtgen, a Louisville native, is a '99 graduate from Campbellsville University who now resides and works in Charlotte, N.C. as a designer and art director.

Hurtgen has a love for collaborating with nimble corporations and small businesses, such as Campbellsville's own Harden Coffee, in order to help distinguish individuals and brands a part from others.

After nearly a decade of experience, Hurtgen has accumulated a lengthy list of awards for his role as an art director in various creative endeavors. He was most recently honored with the National Gold Advertising Award and a MidSouth Emmy Nomination for his work on the short Malala Yousafzai.

Yousafzai, a Nobel prize-winning young woman who has weathered terrorism in her fight to gain the universal right for all girls to receive an education, spoke at a leadership conference in Atlanta, Ga. Caravan Film Company asked Hurtgen to direct and illustrate an opening video for Yousafzai's speech.

Hurtgen also contributed creatively to the City of Campbellsville by helping Justin Harden, owner of Harden Coffee, stylize his up-and-coming business. Throughout the metamorphosis of the small coffee roasting business into a thriving business that ships coffee internationally, Hurtgen has worked closely with Harden.

Additionally, Hurtgen has worked with musical artists to design visuals that will accompany their music ranging from major label packages through print and digital distribution to EP sleeve designs for indie bands. Hurtgen has worked heavily with design in the entertainment realm for companies like Tiny Horse, Halogen and Rausch Films. Other companies to which he has contributed include Vox Media, Brave Cycling Company and Electrofi.

The Pence Chowning Art Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday on Oct. 15 for students to meet Hurgen and get a first hand look at some of his creations.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 21.
