Erica Begley from Hannibal awarded Riedel Scholarship

FULTON, MO (12/20/2012)(readMedia)-- Erica Begley of Hannibal is the recipient of a $5,000 Riedel Scholarship from Missouri College Fund for her senior year at William Woods University.

Missouri Colleges Funds assists private colleges and universities in Missouri by working with private donors to secure scholarship opportunities. Money for the scholarships comes from the George H. Riedel Private Foundation and is awarded to students who exhibit high academic achievements.

At WWU, Begley is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and helped support the sorority's cause against domestic violence at the local CARDV (Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence) shelter. She held an executive office in her sorority as co-new member educator.

Begley also participated in work-study at Fulton Preschool since her freshman year. She was in the Honors Program, Knowing the Woods Club, Multicultural Club and Campus Activities Board. In 2010 she received the "Dedication to the Arts" award during the student art show, and in 2011 she received an award for "Artistic Growth" and in 2012 she received the "Expression and Creativity" award. She is president of WWU's Thriving Artists' Group.
