Erica Buck of Pine City, NY Presents at Competitive Regional History Conference

ROCHESTER, NY (04/23/2013)(readMedia)-- Four Nazareth College History majors presented their research on various topics at the annual West/Central NYS Regional Phi Alpha Theta Conference held at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, April 13. One of the largest, most competitive conferences in the last few years, there were 45 papers presented from students representing 10 colleges and universities in Western New York. Four Nazareth College students presented papers.

Sara Bauer of Baldwinsville, N.Y., presented "A Peculiar Institution: African American Slave-owners in America;" Erica Buck of Pine City, N.Y., presented "Dying, Burying and Recording: John W. Jones' Role at Elmira's Prison Camp;" Emily Cornish of Rochester, N.Y., presented "Restless Man in Restless Times: In Search of the "Real" Augustine;" and Matthew Maloney of Fairport, N.Y., presented "Communal Identity: Africanisms in Colonial New York, 1696-1794."
