STORM LAKE, IA (02/22/2019) (readMedia)-- Buena Vista University's (BVU) School of Education is hosting the Conference on Inclusive Education on April 5-6, 2019. Registration opens March 8.
The Conference will feature educational sessions with tips, tools, and resources for attendees to implement in their classrooms and school districts across Iowa and the country. 45-minute breakout sessions in a variety of current, relevant topics will take place Friday afternoon 2:30-4:30 p.m. and Saturday morning 10 a.m.-noon. For currently licensed teachers, license renewal credit will be available, as well as one-credit graduate coursework. Sign-up information will be available at the Conference, and licensing fees will be required. The Conference will also include networking opportunities, an evening Kappa Delta Pi induction ceremony, prizes, and a keynote presentation by Dr. Paula Kluth.
Dr. Kluth is a consultant, teacher, author, advocate, and independent scholar who works with teachers and families to provide inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities and to create more responsive and engaging schooling experiences for all learners. Paula is a former special educator who has served as a classroom teacher and inclusion facilitator. Her professional interests include differentiating instruction, active learning, and inclusive schooling. She is the author of numerous books and products and directed the documentary film titled We Thought You'd Never Ask: Voices of People with Autism.
