Excelsior College Joins Forces with Booz Allen Hamilton

Agreement gives employees increased access to college degrees

ALBANY, NY (01/28/2008)(readMedia)-- Excelsior College, a world leader in online education, announces an agreement with Booz Allen Hamilton that will enhance access to a college degree for more than 19,000 employees of the consulting firm. While employees of Booz Allen Hamilton may pursue a variety of degrees at Excelsior, including liberal arts, business, and technology, they may be especially interested in the colleges online MBA or Certificate in Entrepreneurship.

The MBA program, which accepts transfer credit and does not require the GMAT, gives students the option of enrolling in one of two concentrations: Information Security or Human Performance, in place of elective requirements.

The Certificate in Entrepreneurship is a 16 credit undergraduate program that requires students to complete courses in entrepreneurial marketing, finance, business law, and strategy.

Regardless of geographic location, business travel, and working hours, online courses are designed to meet the needs of working adults at the time and in the place they are ready to learn. According to a 2006 Sloan Consortium report, 62 percent of academic leaders rated the learning outcomes in online education as the same as or superior to those in face-to-face courses.

“I commend Booz Allen for encouraging their employees to pursue the higher education that will help them obtain career advancement and fulfillment,” said Excelsior College President John F. Ebersole.

"Excelsior was chosen because of its diverse degree programs, many of which support Booz Allen's strategic business objectives," says Pat Golden, Senior Associate who oversees the firm's external learning partnerships. Adds Golden, "Our educational alliance with Excelsior will allow us to continue to provide top-notch, flexible learning opportunities for our staff."
