Learn Personal Money Management, Jazz Dance, Food Processing and More

BATAVIA, NY (09/08/2014)(readMedia)-- Whether you're pursuing a degree or just want to nourish your brain, now's the time to register for a 12-week or 8-week class at Genesee Community College. More than 40 different classes are available in everything from sign language to music. Classes for the 12-week session begin September 22, 2014 and for the 8-week session begin October 20, 2014.

GCC offers a variety of learning options. Take a class at its main campus in Batavia, one of its six campus centers in Albion, Medina, Arcade, Warsaw, Dansville, Lima or online. "We try to make it as convenient as possible for a wide variety of students," said Dr. Virginia Taylor, vice president for Student and Enrollment Services. "We're here to serve you."

Among the 12-week classes being offered is an Introduction to Food Processing Technology (FPT 101), part of the College's new degree program. The program meets the current high demand for skilled workers in this field. "It's an excellent opportunity for people looking to get into a new career," said Prof. Maureen Leupold, director of Science at GCC.

Other classes cover a variety of subject areas, from an Introduction to Emergency Management (CRJ 122) to Personal Money Management (BUS 110), Human Diversity (SOC 204), Career and Educational Planning (CEP 101), Music at the Movies (MUS 108) and American Sign Language (ASL 101). "We have classes to meet the requirements of degree-seeking students and classes that can simply enhance your life," Dr. Taylor said. "So many people enjoy movies, our Music at the Movies class would be perfect to increase that enjoyment by understanding how music can impact the plot and other visual elements of film."
