Experience Medieval Stories in Music at Crane Brass Ensemble Concert

SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music Presents Brass Ensemble Concert, Including 'Of Kingdoms and Glory,' on Nov. 5

POTSDAM, NY (10/30/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music invites the public to experience medieval tales through music in an upcoming Crane Brass Ensemble concert under the direction of Dr. James T. Madeja. The performance will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.

The concert will include works by Giovanni Gabrieli, Richard Wagner, Chou Wen-Chung, Fisher Tull and others.

The featured work is Anthony DiLorenzo's programmatic work, "Of Kingdoms and Glory," which musically portrays five medieval stories of knights, dragons and mystical powers. Movement titles include "Fanfare and Victory Processional to Camelot," "Courtyard Dance and Merlin's Magic," "Guinevere and the Dragon's Lair," "The Contest and the Victory of the Black Knight" and "The Rescue and the Battle of the Red Dragon."

This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The Crane Brass Ensemble is composed of the top brass and percussion students at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music. In 2011, the Crane Brass Ensemble shared the stage with the New York Philharmonic Brass Quintet at the Crane Brass Festival, and in 2012, the ensemble traveled to Troy, New York to perform at the historic Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
