FBI APPROVAL ENABLES MINNESOTA'S FULL PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERSTATE MEDICAL LICENSURE COMPACT
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (03/02/2020) (readMedia)-- In May 2015, the Minnesota Legislature unanimously passed the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact The compact provides an expedited licensure process for eligible physicians that improves license portability and increases patient access to care. Since the compact was launched, Minnesota has issued hundreds of expedited licenses but, until recently, did not have approval by the FBI for current licensees to qualify for participation in the compact. With the FBI approval of recent legislative changes, Minnesota licensees now have the opportunity to fully participate in the compact process. Minnesota is grateful to its legislative authors, particularly Senator Carla Nelson and Representative Tina Liebling, and to the Minnesota Medical Association for their support of and advocacy for the compact.
