FLX Agritourism Industry to Greenidge: WE'RE the Economic Engine of the Region, NOT YOU!

Winemakers + hotel owners fact check Greenidge in letter to state tourism board

DRESDEN, NY (03/02/2023) (readMedia)-- As Greenidge Generation continues to appeal the Department of Environmental Conservation's original decision to deny its air permit, the cryptomine is still accelerating climate change, heating up Seneca Lake, and causing noise pollution 24/7/365. At the same time, Greenidge claims that the local $3 billion, 60,000 job agritourism industry - which depends on the natural resources that Greenidge threatens - "relies" on the business of its 48 employees.

Ahead of the upcoming tourist season, local agritourism business owners will call on the DEC to uphold their decision and make Greenidge shut down for good. The same group, plus more than 400 local businesses, will release a letter sent to the NYS Division of Tourism and Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance about the threats Greenidge poses to their industry.
