Fall River Native Brendan Sullivan Named MCHA Defensive Player of the Week

The junior goalie from Lake Forest College had 84 saves in two games.

LAKE FOREST, IL (02/22/2012)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College men's hockey player Brendan Sullivan (Fall River, Mass./Aurora Tigers) was named Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after tallying 84 saves in two games over the weekend.

The Foresters split a home-and-home series with Lawrence University, winning 5-2 at home Friday night and falling 2-1 in Appleton, Wisconsin, on Saturday. Sullivan, a junior goaltender, recorded 41 saves in 43 chances in the victory as Lake Forest clinched a spot in the quarterfinals of the MCHA Tournament.

Sullivan stopped 43 of 45 shots on goal on Saturday for his fourth 40-save performance in eight appearances this season.

Sullivan raised his save percentage on the season to .919 and lowered his goals against average to 3.11.

MCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Sullivan also earned the award on January 31.
