Fall River native Brendan Sullivan named MCHA Defensive Player of the Week
The senior goalie at Lake Forest College helped lead the Foresters to a weekend sweep.
LAKE FOREST, IL (12/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College men's hockey player Brendan Sullivan (Fall River, Mass./Aurora Tigers) was named Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Foresters to a sweep of visiting St. Mary's University recently.
Sullivan stopped 28 of 31 shots on goal, including 12 of 13 in the second period, during the team's 5-3 triumph Friday night. He then recorded 27 saves in a 2-0 shutout of the Cardinals on Saturday.
St. Mary's entered the weekend ranked eighth in the nation in scoring at 4.4 goals per contest.
Sullivan's save percentage on the weekend was .948 and raised his season mark to .929, which ranks 23rd in the country. He is also 19th with a 2.10 goals against average.
MCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Sullivan also earned the award two weeks ago and twice last season.
