Fancy Frosters Win Iowa State Fair Cake Decorating Titles

DES MOINES, IA (08/11/2017) (readMedia)-- Top professional and amateur cake decorators vied for top honors in the Cake Decorating competition, judged August 7, prior to the start of the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Sweet To Eat Bakery and Cake of Ankeny won Best of Show and the Sweepstakes title.

Jenny Slight of Des Moines earned the Reserve Sweepstakes award.

Entries were judges on execution, difficulty, appearance, neatness, originality, design, edible applications and use of color.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 177 divisions, 769 classes and over 9,856 entries at this year's Fair. Due to the large number of classes, Food Department judging begins prior to the Fair in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
