Farmington Soldier retires with nearly 25 years of service

SPRINGFIELD, IL (05/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Maj. Brian Burton of Farmington has served 24 years in the U.S. Army. His career spans from May 7, 1988 to May 31, 2012. Burton deployed in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.

The last three years Burton has served with the 108th Sustainment Brigade and the Illinois Army National Guard Plans, Training and Operations in Springfield.

Burton's top awards are the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal and the Combat Action badge.
