Federal Way resident Cal Samuelson selected for Olivet's 2012 Homecoming Court

BOURBONNAIS, IL (11/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Cal Samuelson of Federal Way was part of the Queen's Court for the 58th Homecoming coronation ceremony at Olivet Nazarene University on October 31, 2012. He escorted Allison Wiseman (Bradford, Ohio), the Homecoming Queen. Chosen by his peers for this honor, he is a senior and a leader among the student body. He is the son of Dan and Marcy Samuelson.

Samuelson is double majoring in biblical studies and intercultural studies, and double minoring in biblical Greek and biblical Hebrew. In 2011, he received an award for "Most Outstanding Advanced Greek Student." After graduation, he plans to be a missionary in the Middle East. While at Olivet, he has served as co-leader of Party With Jesus and participated in 24-Hour Prayer, Proclamation Gospel Choir, and chapel band. On many weekends, he travels and serves with The Narrow music ministry team. He ran in the "Tiger Tracks 5k" twice to help raise money for Haiti and once finished in the top ten.

Other members of the 2012 Homecoming Court, all seniors, are: Lauren Beatty (Kankakee, Ill.), escorted by Jeremy Height (Indianapolis, Ind.); Cassidy Lancaster (Lakeland, Fla.), escorted by Michael Doherty (Fenton, Mich.); Whitney (Swick) Means (originally from Grinnell, Iowa), escorted by her husband, Seth Means (originally from Honey Creek, Iowa) of Bourbonnais; Taylor Polatas (Kent, Ohio), escorted by Josue Sanchez (Morelia, Mexico).

Olivet's Homecoming Queen and members of her Court have been honored each year since 1955. The Queen is a senior woman chosen by the student body. She is person of integrity; gives glory to God in her life; helps others feel loved and accepted; and expresses Olivet's academic, social, and spiritual ideals.
