Fidel Castro's Daughter to Speak at SUNY Delhi
DELHI, NY (10/10/2009)(readMedia)-- The SUNY Delhi Student Programming Board presents Alina Fernandez, who will speak about her experience as the exiled daughter of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro on Wednesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. in Evenden Tower, Room 104.
Fernandez will present her life in Cuba as one of Fidel Castro's children, describing the political environment during the 1960's and 1970's. A mixed upbringing of privilege and privation, her story reveals the people of Cuba whom she knew over the last forty years. Her presentation will also give a personal insight to Fidel Castro as the political ruler of Cuba.
Fernandez resides in the United States today and has published her story, Castro's Daughter: An Exile's Memoir of Cuba. Hollywood is currently making a major motion picture based on her life.
