Fidelis Care Recognizes Nathan Littauer for Exemplary Patient Care

GLOVERSVILLE, NY (01/26/2015)(readMedia)-- Fidelis Care recently recognized Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home for its successes in patient management care. Nathan Littauer showed great growth in promoting childhood vaccinations, childhood and adolescent well care, asthma awareness, and cervical cancer screenings. More than 90 percent of the Fidelis Care members who needed well child visits at Nathan Littauer received them in 2013, and almost 80 percent of Fidelis Care members seen at Nathan Littauer were given their needed vaccinations.

"We have worked together to promote health through quality, accessible care and services for everyone. Their dedication and commitment to the community, and their focus on wellness and preventive services sets an example for others."

Nathan Littauer has instituted several policies and programs to advance patient management care, said Donita Crankshaw, Nathan Littauer's Primary/Specialty Care Manager, who helped oversee the initiatives.

"Our policy of primary care is not to let a patient leave the office without a preventive care appointment. That's first and foremost," Crankshaw said. "Our goal is simply comprehensive patient care across the board." Nathan Littauer also calls patients who are in need of immunizations and wellness visits to get them up to date on the health measures, Crankshaw said. In addition, doctors have been asked to review patients' files during sick visits to see if the patients are in need of any preventive care measures.

For 2015, Nathan Littauer will continue their preventive care initiatives and will expand their efforts to focus heavily on lead screening and diabetes awareness among its population. "Littauer has been moving in the right direction as it concerns preventive care. With our dedicated staff we continually demonstrate our understanding of the population we serve," said Laurence E.
