HAVANA, IL (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- WHO:
• The Illinois Army National Guard's Detachment 1, Company B, Military Intelligence, 33rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, Shadow Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platoon.
WHAT:
• The Shadow platoon will launch and fly the Shadow UAV. This is the first ever, FAA approved UAV flight in civilian airspace in the country.
WHEN/WHERE:
• 10 a.m. May 12 at Havana Regional Airport, 17968 County Road 1100 North, Havana, IL., 62644.
WHY:
• The Soldiers of Detachment 1, Company B, Military Intelligence are highly trained professionals committed to the safety and privacy of the citizens in the Havana area. The fact that the FAA approved Illinois National Guard Soldiers to be the first in the nation to use civilian airspace for UAV training flights is a testament to Det. 1 Company B, Military Intelligence's professionalism.
Please note: This event is subject to weather. If there is inclement weather or high winds, the UAV will not be launched.
