COLUMBIA, SC (12/31/2007)(readMedia)-- First Lady Jenny Sanford announced today that Danny Drescher, a 16 year old student at the Greenville Fine Arts Center, is the winner of December’s Healthy SC School Video Contest. Drescher’s video, “The Health Squad,” was ranked #1 by fans judging in the Healthy SC Challenge channel on OurStage.com.

“The Health Squad” is a fast- paced action series that stars a kung fu fighter, an intimidating body-builder, and a daredevil in a purple 80’s track suit with a helmet. Each of the action figures fights crimes against unhealthy eating, inactivity, and tobacco use. Not only do they succeed in getting their victims to not eat hamburgers, not play video games and not smoke, they replace their vices with a salad, a basketball, and a carrot!
Reginald Scott’s video, “The Coffin” is runner up. Scott will receive $1,500 in cash or savings bond. The Garrett Academy of Technology will receive a $100 gift certificate to Wal-Mart. “The Coffin” shows students feeding the vending machine while an original poem that uses the analogy of a vending machine as a coffin is recited by a chorus of student voices.
