Five members of the Thunder women's soccer team earn All-Central Region recognition

Five members of the Wheaton College women's soccer team have been named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region team. Juniors Sarah Tomich, Izzy McNally and Carney Blake were joined on the All-Region First Team by sophomore Sara Bakke. Sophomore Lauren Ketchum was a Second Team honoree.

Tomich and McNally each earned their First Team recognition as Thunder defenders. Tomich earns First Team All-Region recognition for the second-consecutive season, also earning All-American recognition from United Soccer Coaches in 2018. Tomich and McNally anchored a Thunder defense that allowed just two goals in 22 matches, including only one goal allowed in eight conference matches. The Thunder defense posted a 0.44 goals against average this season, recording 15 shutouts.

Bakke and Blake picked up First Team All-Region honors as midfielders. Bakke led Wheaton in total points with 22 this season. She scored five goals with a team-high 12 assists. Blake tallied five goals with one assist for Wheaton this year.

Ketchum played in all 22 matches for the Thunder, playing 1,777 minutes this year. She allowed just 10 goals, with a 0.51 goals against average with eight shutouts to her credit.
