Flagler College Heart Walk raises funds and awareness for heart health

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (02/18/2014)(readMedia)-- More than 100 people took part in the 2014 Flagler College Heart Walk this past Saturday to raise funds and awareness for heart health and heart disease prevention.

The two-mile walk at Vilano Beach included Flagler President William T. Abare Jr., as well as students, faculty and staff.

Also in attendance at the walk was Flagler sophomore Brock Marvin who spoke to the group about his personal trials with heart disease in his family and how he and his brother were both recipients of heart transplants in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

The walk, which was sponsored by Planet Fitness, Smoothie King, the Jacksonville Sharks, the Bailey Group and the YMCA, raised more than $1800 to benefit the American Heart Association.
