Flagler College Named One of the Healthiest Companies by First Coast Worksite Wellness Council

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (05/14/2012)(readMedia)-- Flagler College has been named one of the healthiest companies by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council.

The college won under the silver level category of the 2012 First Coast Healthiest Companies for the second year in a row based on its employee wellness program.

"The college participates in a considerable number of wellness activities for our employees such as an annual health fair with health risk assessments available," said Tricia Kristoff, the Flagler College Human Resources Benefit Coordinator. "This last year, in addition to the usual blood sugar and total cholesterol tests, we also offered angio screening for employees."

Flagler College also makes programs available to its employees such as a free flu shot clinic, walking programs, weight management through Weight Watchers at Work programs, community events and onsite health education seminars, such as Heart Health education.

"The goal of this year's wellness program is to bring employees together to engage in becoming healthier and happier both at work and at home," said Kristoff. "We encourage them to take responsibility for their personal health and focus on prevention and education through participation in the programs offered throughout the year."

The college's wellness initiative also includes incentives through a Wellness Punchcard that gives employees the opportunity to be in a drawing for prizes at the end of the year based on participation.

The First Coast Worksite Wellness Council is an organization devoted to improving the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance through member businesses.
