Flagler College, North Florida Bicycle Club receive CSX grant to implement 'One Road'

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (09/17/2014)(readMedia)-- Flagler College and the North Florida Bicycle Club (NFBC) are pleased to announce a CSX Corporation award for $10,000 in support of the "One Road" campaign. "One Road," a cyclist safety campaign, is aimed at reducing the amount of accidents between motorists and bicyclists in Northeast Florida.

The $10,000 grant received from CSX will be used to fund media buys, produce media spots and create other material in support of the overall campaign goal.

"This grant from CSX will greatly help us in our fundraising efforts," said Flagler student Darq Neimark, who is serving as the campaign's account executive. "We're working very hard toward the implementation of the 'One Road' campaign, so this is an exciting opportunity to help the NFBC reach their end goal."

The "One Road" campaign is an interactive health communication campaign that was designed by Flagler College students under the supervision of Dr. Eric Hoffman in a senior level strategic communication campaigns course. Students in the course this semester are working on additional funding opportunities to fully support the two-year campaign.

"It is great to see a local company with a national focus like CSX make important investments in our community. We were delighted to receive this gift and 100 percent of the funds will go directly into the campaign," said Hoffman. "Cyclist safety is an important issue, especially here in North Florida and we greatly appreciate CSX's generous gift."

CSX Vice President of Public Safety, Health and Environment Skip Elliott said his company was proud to support the "One Road" campaign

"We have many avid cyclists at CSX including more than 200 participants scheduled to ride in the upcoming MS150," said Elliott. "Safety is a way of life at CSX and we commend the North Florida Bicycle Club and Flagler College for this important safety advocacy effort."

The "One Road" campaign was originally scheduled to launch in spring 2015, but thanks to the CSX donation, the campaign should kick off in fall 2014.
