ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (08/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Dr. Timothy Johnson, professor of Religion and chair of the Humanities Department at Flagler College, was recently named a research associate at the Historical St. Augustine Research Institute.
Johnson's area of expertise is in the history of Christian spirituality and theology. His primary focus is on the Middle Ages and the Franciscans. While he is a research associate Johnson hopes to pool his resources to fuel his research as well as apply for research funding.
"My affiliation with the group will allow me to seek funding for future conferences as well as for further research on Thomas Hastings and church architecture," said Johnson.
Johnson also recently served as a lead presenter and master teacher at the Future of Liberal Education & Franciscan Pedagogies Summer Conference at St. Bonaventure University in New York.
The conference was for faculty and administrators interested in discussing the challenges to liberal education and assessing institutional commitments to a liberal education in a time of competing commitments and finite resources.
