Flagler College Theatre Arts Department presents "Dancing at Lughnasa"

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (02/21/2014)(readMedia)-- Beginning Feb. 21, the Flagler College Theatre Arts Department will present "Dancing at Lughnasa," written by Brian Friel and directed by Andrea McCook.

Considered Friel's masterpiece, "Dancing at Lughnasa," is a haunting tribute to the spirit and valor of Ireland's past. Winner of the 1992 Tony for Best Play, the play is in 1936, set outside the Irish village of Ballybeg, during the harvest festival of Lughnasa. The play reveals the lives of five unmarried sisters, told as a nostalgic memory by Michael, the son of one of the women.

"Dancing at Lughnasa" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21, 22, 28 and March 1 as well as at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 and March 2.

Performance will be held at the Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, 14 Granada St., St. Augustine. Tickets are $15 with reserved seating and can be purchased at the box office or online at flagler.edu/theatre.
