Flagler College alumna accepted to premiere MFA program

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (03/25/2013)(readMedia)-- Flagler College alumna Tara Stephens, '12, has been accepted to the premiere Master of Fine Arts program in the country at Portland State University.

After successfully navigating a number of online interviews, Stephens, who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, finds herself on the cusp of a new chapter in her studies entering into the program, which only accepts an average of six students annually.

"This is a huge win for Flagler's BFA program, and a life changer for Tara," said Patrick Moser, chair of the art and design department at Flagler.

PSU's Art and Social Practice MFA is a 90-credit, three-year course composed of a unique combination of individual research, group work and experiential learning. Students connect their art practice to research in the field through electives and community partnerships.

Their work and research is then presented at the Open Engagement conference, an international conference that sets out to explore various perspectives on art and social practice and expand the dialogue around socially engaged art making.
