Flagler named one of the healthiest companies in Northeast Florida
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (07/29/2013)(readMedia)-- For the third consecutive year, Flagler College has been named one of the healthiest workplaces in Northeast Florida. The First Coast Worksite Wellness Council presented their silver medal to Tricia Kristoff, Flagler's Human Resources Generalist.
Kristoff formed Flagler's wellness committee five years ago to help improve the health of the faculty and staff. The wellness committee meets monthly to plan and manage initiatives such as social media awareness and speaking events featuring health care professionals.
"I have an excellent committee because everyone is willing to work together to improve our campus," said Kristoff. "We also have full support from the upper management, which is very helpful. We've already seen a reduction in both health insurance claims and premiums."
The college offers walking programs, free Zumba classes and hosts and annual wellness fair. Conferences are also either provided with healthy refreshments or held as walking tours of the campus.
"I've even seen faculty members encouraging each other to join them in fitness activities. It's really going great," said Kristoff.
