Flute family represented in concert March 17

Elizabethtown College's 8th Flutefest features piccolo to bass

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (02/13/2014)(readMedia)-- The Arioso Flute Choir, along with a variety of flute ensembles and soloists perform light classical music plus some Irish tunes in honor of St. Patrick's Day during the Elizabethtown College 8th Annual Flutefest.

Students of Dr. Paula Nelson, headline the free concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, in Zug Recital Hall. From piccolo to bass, all members of the flute family are represented.

The Arioso Flute Choir performs the Overture from The Marriage of Figaro and, then, in keeping with the St. Patrick's Day theme, plays A Gaelic Offering by Catherine McMichael, A Celtic Celebration by Ricky Lombardo and the well-known Irish melody The Last Rose of Summer. Featured small ensembles perform duets by Doppler and Schultze and trios by Kuhlau and Mercadante. There will be a performance on the traditional Irish flute.
