Foods of Yesteryear Featured in Iowa State Fair Cooking Competition

DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2010)(readMedia)-- The tastes of days gone by were featured in the Old Thresher's Family Reunion contest judged Saturday at the 2010 Iowa State Fair.

Lana Ross of Indianola won first place for Grandma Hagenlock's Raisin Pie. Second place went to Brayton's Shari Clemsen, and Jean Lemonds of Des Moines collected third.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and historicity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the recently-renovated Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
