Forest Lake Native Ashley Magelssen Honored with MIAC All-Conference
SAINT PAUL, MN (06/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Bethel University sophomore Ashley Magelssen from Forest Lake, Minn., was honored with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Conference title. At a track and field meet hosted by Concordia College (Moorhead, Minn.), Magelssen completed the 200-meter dash in 24.41, breaking the MIAC meet record, and is now ranked fifth in the nation. In finals, she took third place with a time of 25.17 seconds. Magelseen also ran the 100-meter dash where she took second with a time of 11.98 seconds. She is ranked sixth in the 100 in all of Division III and should qualify in both events for nationals.
Magelssen also teamed up with three other Royals for two relays. In the 4x100, they notched a season best, a school year record, and a second place finish with a time of 47.78 seconds. The 4x400 was the last event of the meet and the team placed fourth (3:55.50). Both relay teams are ranked in the top 30 in Division III.
