CANTON, NY (06/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Stanley Macdonald, retired editor of the Louisville Courier-Journal, was honored by his alma mater, St. Lawrence University, with an Alumni Citation presented in a ceremony during Reunion Weekend on campus in Canton, New York.

Macdonald is a 1965 graduate of St. Lawrence. Alumni Citations awarded to individuals for exemplary professional accomplishment or community volunteer activities.

Macdonald earned a bachelor's degree in English from St. Lawrence and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He worked as a reporter and an editor at the Courier-Journal in Louisville, where he helped direct stories that won national awards. He has taught at Western Kentucky University, St. Lawrence and Bellarmine University, where he will teach a news literacy course this fall.
