Former Voorheesville Athlete Rebekah Coons Earns Softball All-Conference Honors

Coons Selected to NEAC Softball Third Team All-Conference

AURORA , NY (05/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Junior Rebekah Coons of the Wells College softball team in Aurora, N.Y. has earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Third Team All-Conference honors recently released by the NEAC office.

Coons, a second team selection a year ago, proved again to be one of the most valuable players for the Express leading the team in assist at third base with 64, while recording 29 putouts. Coons finished with a .231 avg. and a .321 on base percentage, including 11 RBI, while swiping a team leading 10 bases.

Coons helped lead the Express to a 12-14 overall record, including a 10-10 record in the NEAC. The Express earned the No. 6 seed in the NEAC tournament falling to No. 3 seed PS. Berks 3-0 on April 28. The 12 wins mark the most by any Wells softball team in a single season. Before the 2010 season the Express had won just 15 games total from 2000-2009.
