"To say that my service through Buena Vista University and the Storm Lake Community has influenced me is an understatement," said Sloane. "My service here has fueled my passion for helping others; taught me more about diversity, equality and the needs of others in ways that I could have never imagined; directed me onto my path as a future educator and has helped unlock the person I was meant to be."

Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents, who are committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education.
