Four from KU Field Hockey earn All-PSAC recognition

Top-ranked Kutztown University field hockey was well-represented on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's year end award lists. KU had a trio on the First Team and another on the Third Team, while head coach Marci Scheuing was named the PSAC Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league's coaches and announced Thursday afternoon.

Graduate students Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and Olivia Blasone (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs), along with junior Sarah Gatehouse (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) earned All-PSAC First Team honors, while sophomore Juliana Donato (Cedarville, N.J./Schalick) was voted All-PSAC Third Team. Dusman is now a four-time All-PSAC performer, having received Second Team in each of her first three seasons in Maroon and Gold. Blasone, Gatehouse and Donato are all on the list for the first time each in their respective careers.

It is the most First Teamers for KU since 2017, when it boasted four, tied for a program record with the 1997 quartet.

A team captain, Dusman, the 2018 PSAC Freshman of the Year, has started all 18 games. She ranks fourth in the PSAC in goals with 14 and points with 36 and is also tied for third with eight assists. Dusman ranks in the top-10 in program history in career goals (44), assists (26) and points (114).

Blasone, a team captain, has been stout in the center of midfield all season long. She has started all 18 games and has tallied a career-high eight goals so far this season, third-most on the team.

Gatehouse has been the rock of the defense, starting all 18 games as a center back. She has a career-best 10 assists this season, which ranks second in the PSAC. Gatehouse also has scored two goals. She has been the PSAC and NFHCA Defender of the Week twice this season.

Donato is like a magician when she has the ball on her stick. She is a creator for the offense and her seven assists is tied for eighth in the PSAC. Donato also does a lot of the dirty work in creating penalty corners for KU.

It is Scheuing's second PSAC Coach of the Year, also winning it in 2015. She has led Kutztown to 16 regular season wins thus far, second-most in a regular season in program history. The 16 victories so far also rank third-most in a season at KU. Scheuing recorded her 100th win as a Golden Bear earlier this season.
