Franklin Bowers Elected Chairman of the College Activities Council at Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/03/2012)(readMedia)-- On March 6, 2012, Franklin Wilson Bowers, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, was elected Chairman of the College Activities Council for the 2012-2013 academic year.
A Patrick Henry Scholar, Franklin served on the CAC this year and plays on the varsity tennis team. He is a member of the Garnet & Grey Society (admissions tour guide) and the social fraternity Kappa Alpha. A mathematical economics and applied mathematics major, Franklin is a graduate of Arendell Parrott Academy and is the son of Vinson & Nancy Bowers of New Bern.
The CAC, an arm of student government, plans social entertainment for students in the form of dances, concerts, movies, and other activities. Student government, first introduced at the College in 1886, is an historic and respected institution.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
