Frasher Bolton Receives Final Convocation Award

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 26, Hampden-Sydney College senior Frasher Alexander Bolton received the Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, presented by Professor Frank C. Archer '73, Associate Professor of Fine Arts. The Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, established in 1939 by the parents of Kearfott Stone '35, is presented to a student who has rendered outstanding service to the cause of good music in the community.

A Patrick Henry Scholar, Frasher serves as Secretary-Treasurer of Student Government. He has also served as Vice President, Music Director, and Section Leader of The Acousticals, an a capella group; is Section Leader of the Hampden-Sydney Men's Chorus; and is a member of The Notables, another vocal group. He is a member of the honorary societies Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership) and the Society for Collegiate Journalists. He has served on the College Activities Committee, the New Student Orientation Committee, and the student radio station, WWHS. An economics major, Frasher graduated from E. C. Glass High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John A. Bolton of Lynchburg.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
