Freedom Salute planned for Springfield-based Guardsmen following Afghanistan deployment

SPRINGFIELD, IL (02/29/2016)(readMedia)-- A Freedom Salute ceremony is planed for a Springfield-based unit following its deployment to Afghanistan. The ceremony will be held March 5 at Camp Lincoln.
WHO: • Illinois Army National Guard

• 232nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB)

WHAT: • The 232nd CSSB deployed for Afghanistan in February 2015 and returned to Illinois approximately 90 days ago.

• The 13 Soldiers deployed in support of Operation Resolute Support and assisted with the planning, supervision and execution of logistical operations within Afghanistan and assisted with the drawdown of U.S. Forces and equipment.

• The Freedom Salute Campaign program is a way to show these patriotic citizen-Soldiers, their families and employers how much their sacrifice is appreciated.
