French Film "Le jour se leve" ("Daybreak") to be Screened on April 9, 2010

ALBANY, NY (03/17/2010)(readMedia)-- "Daybreak" ("Le jour se lève," France, 1939, 88 minutes, b/w, in French with English subtitles, directed by Marcel Carné) will be shown on Friday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany's downtown campus. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, the screening is free and open to the public.

A factory worker kills his rival in love, then barricades himself in his apartment to weather an armed siege by the police, all the while recalling the events that led to the crime. The film is a masterpiece of "realist" cinema from major French director Marcel Carné
