ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (03/25/2014)(readMedia)-- Elizabethtown College will be awash in music as the warmth of spring melts away winter. Helping increase the temperatures is pianist Dan Immel's "The Devil's Vertigo." The concert, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, in the College's Leffler Chapel and Performance Center, is a diabolically and psychologically themed program that embarks on a pianistic journey into the emotional, spiritual and existential realms. The performance features music of Currier, Ligeti, Rachmaninoff, Bach, Palomo and Janacek.

Immel is assistant professor of music at Kutztown University. He advocates for the performance of new piano literature, as he specializes in the performance and research of 20th and 21st-century music. His recent series of lecture recitals on Ligeti's "Etudes for Piano" were met with critical acclaim.

The season continues with the Elizabethtown College-Community Orchestra, Scholarship and Creative Arts Day performances, Symphonic Band, the College's Fine and Performing Arts Spring Concert and a choral and Jazz Band concert.

All spring concerts are free and take place in the College's Leffler Chapel and Performance Center, unless otherwise noted.
