Frosted Brownies Take Honors at State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2021) (readMedia)-- Peri Halma of West Des Moines won first place in the My Best Brownies competition, judged Friday, August 20, at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.

Heather Derr of Clive won second place, and Kay Smith of Des Moines received third place.

Entries were judged on taste, creativity and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 134 divisions, 603 classes and nearly 6500 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air.
